In case you haven't gotten the memo yet, Lizi gave birth on Thursday.

All last week Liz was having pretty bad contractions, but they were still about 10 minutes apart, so we weren't really too worried about it. On Wednesday night, we went to bed at the regular time (11:00). Liz woke me up at about 12:30 in a lot of pain, decided we needed to go the hospital. So, we loaded up the car, and away we went.

We got admitted at about 1 or so. Not really sure about exact times, since the last few days have been a bit of a blur. I tried to sleep, but Liz was in such bad pain that she kept waking me up. There wasn't a lot I could do, she just wanted me to be there next to her. I didn't really sleep, anyway, since the couch was so damned uncomfortable. She finally got them to give her an epidural at something like 4, and that really helped her out. She was having really bad contractions, still, but couldn't feel them.

Most of the rest of Thursday morning was just sitting around while the nurses came and checked on her. Finally around 2pm the nurse checked her and said "okay, it's time to start pushing. We'll call your doctor." The doctor showed up at 2:30 or so, she pushed and pushed and pushed. I couldn't believe how easy she was making it look.

Finally, at 2:50 pm, Alyson Quinn was born. I have never been so amazed at something in my life. The minute I saw her face I just couldn't stop bawling I was so excited. Funny thing is that Thursday was the baby's due date, and Liz had a doctor's appointment for that day at 2:30. Most punctual child ever. She's one of only 5% of babies to be born on the due date.

I had no idea that mostly the nurses would be helping and the doctor would just kind of show up to catch. He literally left like 5 minutes after Alyson was born, and we didn't see him again until the next day. Again for about 5 minutes. The pediatrician showed up at 4 am, since she knew we wouldn't be sleeping. We got moved into a new room upstairs, which was smaller, but nicer.

I took this picture of her right after she was born. Try not to let this little face melt your heart!

So that's pretty much the story. The first couple days I slept all of like 4 hours in total since we kept getting woken up by the baby. That wasn't so bad alone, but the nurses coming in every hour really made things annoying. That and the fact that the chair I was sleeping on was insanely uncomfortable. We're back home now, Alyson is eating, and we're getting ready to go over to Liz's mom's after she's done. I actually got a little more sleep last night since there weren't any nurses bugging us.

I still can't believe I'm a daddy. I also can't believe how cute this baby is.

I love that the first photo you have of her is with a hilarious o_O expression of suspicion on her face. She is adorable. ♥

The o_O expression is how you know it's Nathan's and Liz's child.
