Really, it's a wonder she likes me at all.

Yay! Our internet is back online! It's a shame we had to buy a new modem, but oh well, since apparently we needed a new one anyway.

Our internet is down. Posting this from my phone is lame.

This picture has two of my favorite things: Odin and Liz's butt. This is my second favorite picture of Odin, after the one where he's snuggling Hello Kitty.

It really is hard to commit yourself to updating once a day. Didn't used to be, but I didn't used to have a life the way I do now. I now understand why Mallory sucks so bad at this.

"Only two things in life are infinite: the universe, and human stupidity. And I'm not so sure about the former." --Alber Einstein

Sums it all up, doesn't it?

Day 6 later.

Generally my response for this is either Alice in Wonderland/Through the Looking Glass or The Hitchhiker's Guide series. Both very well written books, and the latter a laugh riot. Any self-respecting nerd needs to have read these books.

As far as more modern ("modern" here having the meaning of released in the last 10 years), there's not a lot that has impressed me. Christopher Moore definitely fills the void left by Douglass Adams, though his books aren't so much sci-fi. Bloodsucking Fiends and its sequel You Suck are worth checking out if you want to read GOOD, contemporary vampire fiction that is also funny. Also Chat Kultgen is funny, as long as you think sexism is funny, and Max Barry for more dry whit.

I digress. Hitchhiker's Guide is my favorite book.

Right now, I have two shows that I absolutely adore and would hate myself for missing a single episode: LOST, and Breaking Bad. Everybody knows about LOST, so I'll spare you from telling you how awesome it is. Breaking Bad, however, is less known, but equally awesome. Also, it's a lot easier to follow, because there's no flashing in any direction (that sounded better in my head). I got into it last season, which was the second season, and I was hooked after a single episode. I went back and watched the first season, and it was excellent. It stars Bryan Cranston as a high school chemistry teacher who is diagnosed with cancer and also finds out his wife is pregnant with a random mid-life crisis baby. To bring in some extra money, he gets in touch with a former student and becomes a cooker of meth while aforementioned student deals. It takes place in Albuquerque, and is actually filmed there, so it automatically gets points for authenticity.

DEFINITELY my favorite show, LOST in a close second, and Community and Venture Brothers come in at 3rd and 4th.

Will do day 4 later, to catch up.

For awhile I had a running list of my top five favorite movies, but that's since changed and I just never bothered updating it... Two movies that I recall being on there are Nightmare Before Christmas and Fight Club (two movies which I'm baffled that we still have yet to replace), both of which I watched extensively. However, the one movie I consistently bring up and am surprised when people tell me they haven't seen is The Hudsucker Proxy, which, if you've been around me for more than a few months, I've made you watch it. As such, I'd have to say that's probably my favorite movie.

I always suck at picking my favorite anything. It's always a process for me, because first I have to narrow down which genre we're talking about, then I have to further narrow it down by artist, and finally pick a song that I could, with no reservations, call my "favorite." If I'm being honest, I would probably have to say something by Ben, since he seems to be my "go to" artist, and I never really skip any of his song when they come up on my ipod (honestly, how many times have you heard me say how awesome he is?).

That being said, I can narrow it down to the three songs that I always ALWAYS put on a play list: Not the Same, Landed, and You Don't Know Me. All of his songs are catchy and the beats infectious, but these three in particular stand out above the crowd because I just LOVE belting the lyrics. Of those three? That's harder. If you held a gun to my head and said I had to choose, I would pick Not the Same in heartbeat. Why? Listen to a live version of it, and you'll know why.

Although I have been listening to "Rules Don't Stop" by We Are Scientists and "Code Monkey" by Jonathan Coulton a lot lately.

Ganked this from [livejournal.com profile] boombashpow's tumblr. Gonna start it tonight. I think it'll help me to get out of the rut of just talking about work and the baby. Feel free to start your own! I think it'll really help get me writing again, more than anything.
